Week 4

This screen shot shows the Sql String which connects the database.

Changing the db_name I realised can sync it with the form

Desktop Design

The design of Big Bright Blooms I had to incorporate flowers. I
created a moke up using Yola. I was told that Yola was far to restricting for SQL

So I decided to look at other popular website too look at their layout for an e-commerce site for example Amazon.com
I noticed amazon used a white backgroud to give clean and clear look. Also had products on the front page, which took you straight to the product page.

I created a similar looking front page.
The flowers is incorporated in the heading
also the menu is on the left

Week 4

I have extended the code to include a price form

I have extended the code to include punblisher post

The difference between Get and Post methods

Get is more about retrieveing data and sending data through a query string for example to fetch a webpage

Post is more to do with storing or uploading data. Sending information through http request. Slightly more secure than get moethod

Learning how to use Myphp Admin and MySQL

My task this week was to create a databse, put data in table and upload file or script to the server.

I first access myPhp by selecting: apacheonly.bat

This then allows me access to http://localhost/phpmyadmin/

Where I can create a database and enter data

I found this very simple and good alternative to using Microsoft Access.

Blog Question:
Can we code in the data?
Why would that be impossible?

It is not possible to enter data into the website from this static page. There is no way from here to interact with the webpage. A get function will needed to be implented.

Blog Question:
Briefly explain what the following keywords mean to you:
superuser, DBMS, privileges, schema, semi-colon, query, dynamic, static

Put a copy of book.php in your blog and using coloured ink, or underlining, differentiate between the static and the dynamic parts of the code.

Superuser:
A user has complete access to all aspects of the server. Means I can have absolute control over what content is put on the site.

DBMS:
A software which is used to construct and manage databases.

Privileges:
The user is able to have more control and access to the website

Schema:

Semi-colon:

Query:

Dynamic:

Static:

Using Yola for the first time

Yola was very quick to sign up to. The homepage was very clear and clean, hope to achieve the same with my website.

1:I need to first to choose a website style.

2:Given two options, choose a website name or design.

Choose to design cause I wanted to test out Yola

3. I chose a style which had a flower in the banner and which was bright coloured so it will would appeal to the customer and potential users.

On the homepage I wanted to keep simple so that the user will look through the tabs for more information.

The tabs on the right I used to create Text Box, Picture box. To split the two boxes I used column divider.

This was all very easy to do but still not pleasd with the overall outcome. Wanted the picture closer to the text, but Ill correct it at a later stage.

Edit: I found that If I align the picture to the right and edit the margin numerals it decreases the cell padding in the boxes.

Introduction

Hello and Welcome to my Blog recording my journey through Software Development For The Web!

So I start with Task 2, you maybe wondering what happened to Task 1. Due to a mistake in my timetable I've missed the introductory week, but I feel I haven't missed out on much because it covered HTML which I have had previous experience with.

Task 2 required me to design and create website for a customer who specialises in paper mache artifical flowers.Ive got few application options to help me create the website.

1. Yola.com-"Stop browing. Start building"-Highly Recomended by lecturer

2.Wix.com - "Stunning flash websites for free"

3.Yahoo geocities -No longer permits new sign up accounts.

I've chosen to use Yola, due to it being highly reconmended and majority of the class using it.

I believe im required to create an ecommerece site using SQL and PHP code. The site must be able to show products and prices. Admin control must be used to manage the sites content.
